Tribal Peoples in Balochistan

In 1994, I traveled to Pakistan and lived in Quetta, the capital city of Balochistan, for three months. As the guest of the Balochistan Rural Support Project, a Pakistani and German NGO (non-government organization), I was able to travel with their workers into the desert each day and photograph many of the tribal groups living there. I brought 12 disposable cameras which I gave to women in Shadini, the tribal group living closest to Quetta. They had never used cameras before and so I gave them simple instructions. When I later reviewed their images I was amazed by their ability to photograph. I have included their images on this site as well. See “Tribal Peoples of Balochistan” in the articles section.
